Transcript
Students applying online must submit their transcripts through LSAC's Document Assembly Service, which is included when you create your LSAC account and pay the LSAC registration fee to use the online application form. You will only need to obtain your transcripts, letters of recommendation, and TOEFL score(s) one time, and LSAC will arrange for your documents to be forwarded to all the law schools to which you wish to apply.
Internationally-educated students are strongly encouraged to register for LSAC's International Transcript Authentication and Evaluation Service. For an additional fee, LSAC will authenticate and evaluate your transcripts, as well as distribute them to the schools to which you wish to apply. International applicants who use this service are not required to complete Georgetown's Registrar's Certification form. All U.S.-educated applicants are required to submit the Registrar's Certification Form.
International applicants using a paper application must instead submit original, official transcripts, along with official English translations, directly to the address provided on the form. They must also request that a university official complete the Registrar's Certification Form.
U.S.-educated applicants using a paper application must have official transcripts sent from their universities directly to Georgetown and must request that a university official complete the Registrar's Certification Form.
To all potential international candidates for the New York Bar Exam: We advise all international LL.M. applicants planning to sit for the New York Bar exam to request the required law transcript and translation to meet the bar requirement at the same time you make the request for the transcript for your degree application. Students often report that it can be a demanding and burdensome process to obtain a transcript, and it is even more difficult to do after you are studying in the U.S.
The New York Board of Law Examiners requires that foreign-educated candidates for the bar exam make their requests for "Evaluation of Foreign Academic Credentials" by October 1 of the year before the July exam after your graduation. So, a student planning to sit for the July 2015 New York Bar Exam will have to submit all required forms by October 1, 2014. It usually takes six months to be notified whether or not you are eligible.
While most graduates of traditional law programs around the world [at least three years of classroom study in the civil or common law tradition] will qualify for the New York Bar, we advise you to have this confirmation before beginning your LL.M. study. Many civil law trained and some common law trained law graduates will be told you are not eligible UNLESS you complete a U.S. LL.M. degree.
